Capturing the Moments of the People you Love

Session Information

Thank you for choosing ThreeBabies Photography! My name is Ilyssa Maisano and I am a professional photographer who specializes in newborn photography. In the Spring and Fall I hold family mini sessions but limit them to two per week, so if you would like the chance to book, please do so at least two months in advance so that I have the room for you!

Here are some FAQ’s about a newborn photography session with me, thank you for your interest and I look forward to meeting you!

When do I book the newborn photography session?

As early as possible! When you are pregnant, or expecting an adopted child, call me so that I can put your, or your expectant mom’s, due date on my calendar to save a spot for you.

Where do the studio sessions take place?

Newborn sessions take place at my studio next door to my home in Mendham, New Jersey.  It is approximately 15 minutes from Morristown Center and the closest major highway is 287.

What if my baby is born outside of the due date?

No problem at all! I will always make room for you!

How old should my baby be at the session?

The baby will be between 5 and 14 days old at the time of the session to ensure the baby is sleepy enough to get all of the amazing images you are hoping for.

How long do the sessions take?

For the full newborn session it typically takes anywhere from one and a half to two and a half hours depending on how sleepy the baby is.

The mini newborn session is 1 hour.

The hospital session is 30 minutes.

Can my other child(ren) and both parents be in some photographs?

Yes of course! Typically I will have one of you come with the newborn for the first hour and a half and then the other children will come in the last half an hour to do photographs and the parents/family at the end. I have a small waiting room if you would like the children to wait it is your choice, but it is very hot in the room and typically it would be too much waiting for the child depending on the age.

Do I have to bring my own props?

No! I have everything you need from wraps, blankets, headbands, hats, little pant sets, bins, baskets and more! If you have something special that you would like to bring that is okay with me as well!

Can I request a certain pose?

Absolutely. If you see something of mine that you like I can absolutely try and replicate that for you, I cannot promise it will be exactly the same because every newborn likes to be shaped differently depending on how they were sitting in the womb, but I will try my best!

Can I use my pictures on facebook/instagram/other social media?

If you purchase one of my two digital image packages then you have the rights to them and can use them for facebook or printing! I just ask, respectfully, that you tag me in the photos. My business is mostly word of mouth so by you posting pictures, it is a great recommendation for me!

How do I book a session?

Please see the “Session Request” Tab at the top of my blog or under “Session Info” on my website. A $100 deposit needs to be paid to hold your spot.

How quickly will I get my images after my session?

Turn around time for a full gallery of edited images is 2-3 weeks. That being said, they certainly can be done faster depending on how many sessions I have that week.

What should I expect at my session, how can I prepare?

1. Please feed the baby approximately 20 minutes before he arrives at my studio, we want a nice full belly. But of course, at any point if he/she needs to stop and eat there is always time to do that!
2. Please dress the baby in something that zips or snaps all the way up with no onesie under it. The clothes need to be able to come off easily.
3. I will get the baby out of the car seat and start working right away, the deep car sleep is the best to work with. If he/she is awake it might take some time to get him/her to sleep (some babies up to an hour) but that is okay if it happens.
4. It will be 87 degrees in the studio, so tell anyone who is coming to dress in layers, I wear a tank top, it gets very hot in there.
5. I always try and do a mom or mom/dad baby picture, even if it is just for you, so please wear a solid colored shirt as that looks best in pictures.
